Sinharaja is a piece of original 'wet zone' forest, renowned for its heavy rainfall (read: leeches). We had the driest sunniest weather here for a couple of weeks! Very few leeches as well (sheer luck), thank goodness.
A pit viper, but too tiny to be scary, bless (speak for yourself, funny boy) Wild orchid Ceylon Blue Magpie, the star bird of the forest Kangaroo lizard, so called Strange horn beaked moth Wild pineapple. We also saw some of these on sale in the markets. About half the normal size for double the normal price!!
Tissa is the place for visiting Bundala and Yala National Parks. It was rather soggy when we were there, despite being the 'dry zone' in the 'dry season'.
