Kandy is the city where the Buddha Tooth-Relic is supposedly kept. We visited, but couldn't even see the box that the tooth is kept in.
This is the temple building
Scantily clad tooth guards
Nice bit of ceiling artwork
Three wise monkeys, having a break. They are called Toque Monkeys because of their hair styles. Monkey Type 5.

2011.01 - Kandy botanical gardens, Sri Lanka
2011.01 - Sinharaja Forest, Sri Lanka
Sinharaja is a piece of original 'wet zone' forest, renowned for its heavy rainfall (read: leeches). We had the driest sunniest weather here for a couple of weeks! Very few leeches as well (sheer luck), thank goodness.
A pit viper, but too tiny to be scary, bless (speak for yourself, funny boy)
Wild orchid
Ceylon Blue Magpie, the star bird of the forest
Kangaroo lizard, so called
Strange horn beaked moth
Wild pineapple. We also saw some of these on sale in the markets. About half the normal size for double the normal price!!

2011.01 - Tissa, Sri Lanka
Tissa is the place for visiting Bundala and Yala National Parks. It was rather soggy when we were there, despite being the 'dry zone' in the 'dry season'.
A Changeable Hawk Eagle at Bundala
Grey Langur monkey chilling at Kataragama temple (more like avoiding the slingshot from locals)
Kataragama Temple.
Can you spot the monitor lizard?
The elephant is easier to spot!
A nice Blue-tailed Bee-eater
